Working at Altor

Covering a breadth of businesses and industries, what we do varies a lot from day to day or week to week. It is never an us-and-them mentality, we work together as a team, which makes challenging tasks much easier and fun to solve.

The Altor team is based out of five offices in the Nordics and DACH, but we are truly one Altor and have a strong firm-wide collaboration. We have nurtured a culture which is just as entrepreneurial as that in the companies we partner with. Naturally, we seek to complement the skill sets in the portfolio companies, but we also share important traits with our entrepreneurs: such as having the highest of ambitions, being passionate about what we do, persistent and with the ability to be both bold and creative when it is needed.

What we look for

Altor looks for unique individuals who are passionate about developing great businesses and who fits in a team environment. We look for those with particularly strong finance fundamentals, problem solving skills and intellectual capabilities, but also someone who has a genuine passion for investing and for developing businesses with a view for long-term value creation. The ideal candidate is driven and self-motivated, yet with a humble and unassuming approach.

We work together with external recruiting agencies who help us find new talented colleagues. We believe in long-term investments, both in business and in people. Therefore, we look for individuals who we see as long-term members of the Altor community.

Working as an Investment Associate

As an Altor Investment Associate, you typically split your time 50/50 between working with current portfolio companies, and assessing new investment opportunities. You will follow your portfolio companies from the first investment idea and work closely in partnership with the management teams.

While no two days are alike, you can be sure to continuously apply an analytical approach while gaining hands on experience from business development projects, board meetings, live transactions and negotiations – just to mention a few. We always work as a team and you will work side by side with and learn from senior colleagues, but still be responsible for your own workstreams and projects from day one.

Our internship program

We give students the opportunity to try out the life of an Investment Professional by offering internship opportunities in all our locations. As an investment intern at Altor, you will become an integral part of Altor’s investment team.

The job will provide you with a steep learning curve through exposure to a wide range of work tasks, including:

Researching and evaluating potential investment opportunities
Supporting deal teams with analysis work on acquisitions or divestments of companies where you will attend meetings with investment banks, consulting firms and other advisors
Prepare company evaluations
Perform accounting and commercial analysis such as benchmarking and industry & competitor analysis

… and the recruitment process

We are seeking a 3rd year student of the BSc program or a student in the MSc program. Ideally you have experience from a previous internship at an investment bank, private equity firm or consulting firm. You have good analytical skills, commercial understanding and a great interest in investing and developing companies. You are proactive, energetic, self-driven and a true team player.
